Full-time work experience in higher education

University of Tennesse System, 2015-2021 

Primary permanent position was Director of Business Intelligence for the UT System.  Additionally served temporary appointments as Chief Information Officer for the UT System and the UT Institute of Agriculture.  Worked directly with university executives – from the president down – to provide operational analysis, helping those executives understand how the university works.  Was the sole author of an analysis that developed, executed, and explained economic models to predict the enrollment and revenue effects of absorption of Martin Methodist College in the UT System as UT Southern.  Supported the development of a series of reports explaining the impact of the UT system on every county, house, and senate district in the state.  Led the collection and quality assurance of system-wide enrollment and admissions data.  Led the development and deployment of the University’s first public dashboard providing transparency into its operations including admissions, enrollment, and salary data.  Served as a liaison between the University and the Tennessee Higher Education Commission on student data reporting. 

Franklin & Marshall College, 2013-2015 

As Director of Enterprise Systems, provided the information systems that drove the admissions, financial aid, registration, course delivery, and other functions of the college.  Supported integrations between the college and key admission partners such as data brokers, the College Board, the National Student Clearinghouse, ACT, and marketing firms.  Additionally, provided support for admissions in analyzing trends, markets, price sensitivity, and other factors that drive admission and financial aid policy.  Provided troubleshooting for the systems that are used to process applications and package financial aid. 

Rhodes College, 2005-2012 

Served in role of Director of Information Services, supporting admissions, financial aid, and all other functional areas of the college.  Provided data analysis, trend analysis, competitive market analysis, efficiency analysis, and other tools and techniques for improving admission and financial aid processes.  Validated and improved the economic models used to determine financial aid award packages for students based on various measures of merit and need.  Maintained sole responsibility for interacting with all college ranking providers, including providing responses to surveys, questionaires, and data calls from U.S. News & World Report, Princeton Review, and other rankers.  Regularly explained to the trustees, presidents, and other executives how rankings worked, why Rhodes was ranked as it was, and provided strategic options for improving the colleges rankings.  Led the steering team for the college’s decennial accreditation review with SACS-COC.  Served on the steering team for re-engineering all student services offered by the college, including designing a new organization for admission, aid, and enrollment services.
